A house, located in an affluent neighborhood, proved to be an excellent investment for the client, a contractor and developer. The challenge was to increase the floor area on a small site without over powering the scale of the existing building or other homes in the neighborhood. With the addition of a second floor the more private functions of the home moved upstairs. This allowed more spacious living areas on the first floor. With careful detailing, the generic aesthetic of a one-story ranch was transformed into a cape cod with character.
